The Crystal Lake Kitchen Renovation in Robbinsdale, MN was quite the undertaking. We set out to design and build an entire home. Our journey involved transforming a neglected house into an entertainment-worthy haven. Part of this project was, reimagining and revitalizing the outdated kitchen, seamlessly integrating it with the dining area and unveiling breathtaking lake views. Though this project was an ambitious endeavor, the remarkable results made every effort worthwhile.

Picture us walking into a house that was in quite a state. Years of dirt, grime, junk, and furry outdated wallpaper and shag carpeting greeted us at every turn. The original kitchen was tucked away in a corner of the house, boxed in, hiding the potential for breathtaking lake views just beyond a wall or two.
This project was not going to be a walk in the park. It was going to require some serious elbow grease and creative problem-solving. The kitchen, along with the rest of the house, needed some serious love. It was high time for a major transformation.
We live for those moments when we can take a space that's seen better days and turn it into something truly extraordinary. With a mix of excitement and determination, we rolled up our sleeves and dove headfirst into this adventure.
Our goal was to create a space where the kitchen and dining area seamlessly flowed together, giving the homeowners a front-row seat to those jaw-dropping lake vistas. We teamed up with a talented structural engineer, brainstorming innovative ideas to bring our vision to life. Our mission was clear: fuse modern elements with a touch of nostalgic charm.
Let's talk about the engineering marvels we accomplished. Working hand in hand with Linderman Engineering & Consulting, we carefully planned and executed the removal and replacement of walls with structural beams. It became an entertainer's dream.
We let our creativity run wild to create an atmosphere of a modern haven with a hint of that cool mid-century vibe. We handpicked a spacious kitchen sink and we couldn't resist adding a splash of color on the island. The large windows flooded the space with glorious natural light, while our simple yet elegant full height subway tile backsplash, adding that touch of sophistication we love. The extra tall upper cabinets reach all the way up to the ceiling to give the homeowners plenty of storage space.
It’s amazing how one uniform flooring can transform a space. We went for wide-plank luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring with a light finish, giving the kitchen and beyond a sense of openness and airiness.
The complicated structural revisions in this space required skills, patience and perseverance. This kitchen and open concept space is the perfect backdrop for seamless and enjoyable entertaining. We couldn't be happier with how this project centered around showcasing the breathtaking views of Crystal Lake.
This kitchen transformation was just the beginning of our design build adventure on this project. The entire house was gutted and refinished.
